Project Component 8:
VL outbreak management response and integration with GoB system and involvement of other partners to continue the process
General objective of the component
To implement comprehensive national VL outbreak management strategy in relation to VL elimination programme in Bangladesh. The overall objective is to ensure that NKEP including its partners capable of accommodating the field tested outbreak management strategy in the activities and continue in the consolidation phase of the elimination programme.
Specific objective of the component
1. To improve the capacity of the outbreak management teams under the NKEP at CDC of DGHS and WHO team for proper management of VL outbreak in Bangladesh
2. To implement and evaluate VL outbreak investigation activities involving all stakeholders including central and field level GoB staffs
3. To ensure sustainable integration of VL outbreak management system into the web based VL surveillance system in Bangladesh
Geographical coverage of the component
The activities of this component will be implemented in 100 upazilas of26 Districts endemic for VL (list of the upazila are given in table 1.1 in Annex) plus suspected new endemic upazilas as per surveillance data (DHIS2) from 2017 to 2018.
Activity framework of this component is mention in the Annex-B. Detail procedure of implementation plan is as follows:
8.1: Handover the responsibilities of outbreak management to NKEP
8.2 Assist NKEP team implementing VL outbreaks investigation according to outbreak management guideline
8.3: Ensure sustainable integration of VL outbreak management system into the web based VL surveillance system in Bangladesh and handover the responsibilities to NKEP
8.4 Evaluation of the OMT activity and ensure the consistency in accordance with guideline
8.5 Dissemination of outbreak management activity
