Training on Web-based Surveillance System

BACKGROUND:

A “Web-based surveillance” has already been introduced in National Kala-azar Elimination Program (NKEP) on a pilot basis in 10 Kala-azar endemic upazilas since 2014 with the support from TDR, WHO. Simultaneously CDC, DGHS developed a “Pharmacovigilance activities for Kala-azar in Bangladesh” with the support from PATH, India in collaboration with Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA). icddr,b is a technical support partner for the both projects. Now KalaCORE consortium funded by DFID is also a collaborative partner of DGHS and want to work for NKEP to achieve the elimination strategy. As a part of their activities strengthening web-based surveillance system for Kala-azar in Bangladesh is one of the component.

The overall objective of the training courses is to notify of Medical officers and Sr. Staff Nurses from Kala-azar endemic upazila on this web-based surveillance system so that they can learn how to register the patients information in the surveillance form.

Also notify of statistician from Kala-azar endemic upazila on this web-based surveillance system so that they can learn how to enter the data and report in the DHIS2 into web-based surveillance system.

OVERALL OBJECTIVE (AIM) AND SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES OF THE WORKSHOP

  • To introduce the newly developed Kala-azar surveillance form.
  • To notify the medical officers and Nurses about the procedure technique of filling the
  • surveillance form
  • To notify the statistician how to enter the data in the DHIS2 surveillance system
